Cintia's Ordination

Latinas leading in ministry is nothing out of the ordinary; an ordained Baptist Latina in the USA is extraordinary!

On August 11, 2023, Primera Bautista Waco affirmed her God-given gifts and pastoral calling and ordained Cintia Aguilar. Cintia serves as the Associate Pastor of Missions of Primera Bautista Waco. Through her work at Fellowship Southwest, she has also trained pastors and church leaders in social work across the Mexico/US border.

Originally from Nicaragua, Central America, Cintia came to the USA seeking to pursue higher education. She graduated from Baptist University of the Americas, Baylor University, and Truett Seminary and holds a dual Master’s in Divinity and Social Work.

Her father, a pastor, proudly shared how God has prepared Cintia’s life for this moment. From a very young age, Cintia has faithfully served and led in ministry, from children and youth ministry to leading worship, and now living out her pastoral calling.

As her father continued, the many faces of young Latinas who serve in churches faithfully across Texas flashed through my mind and heart. I thanked God because young Latinas now have one more testimony of another woman who has courageously and faithfully accepted her God-given pastoral calling.

On purpose, my three-year-old daughter accompanied me. I wanted her to witness such a meaningful, inspiring, and sacred day. Much to my surprise, Cintia’s daughter and my daughter, who did not know each other, came together and immediately became “best friends.” When the time came to pray over Cintia, and I stood in line, my daughter asked me what I was doing. I told her I would pray for Cintia and asked if she wanted to join me. She said yes and proceeded to bring Cinta’s daughter. And so, while holding hands, the three of us prayed over Cintia.

Looking back at the picture, I get excited about the legacy these two Baptist Latina-ordained pastors are leaving on their daughters.

On that day, God’s word in Joel and Acts continually kept rolling in my heart and mind as I saw Cintia and our daughters praying together:

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”

¡Gloria a Dios! Glory to God!

Congratulations Rev. Cintia Aguilar!
